THE WEASEL

The Weasel character appeared above his own column in The Independent Magazine, a Saturday supplement to The Independent newspaper. Lucinda Rogers drew the Weasel from 1993-1997, taking over from the cartoonist Garland, who had drawn him since the launch of the magazine.

The column was originally titled "Up and down the City Road", that being the original location of the newspaper's offices. Written by about six writers over the time, the Weasel's commentary was in turn biting and funny, and his attitudes to modern life often endearingly old-fashioned.
